PECAN SPRINGS RANCH WEDDING | AUSTIN WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

Courtney and Eric’s wedding was held at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church followed by a reception at a rustic yet elegant Pecan Springs Ranch. Scroll down for the photos of this beautiful hill country wedding and read the couple’s love story.

How did you meet and when did you know he/she was “the one”?

Courtney– Eric and I met in February 2014 at a Texas Country concert at Nutty Brown in Austin. He was traveling a lot at the time, and was only in Austin every other week from Wednesday-Sunday. We both have different stories about how we began talking, but we exchanged numbers and started talking often. Eric and I officially started dating in May, Mother’s Day to be exact. He was always planning little surprises for us to go do when he came into town. This surprise is one of my favorites! He took us out to Pedernales Falls where we swam and hiked all day. That afternoon, he asked me to officially be his girlfriend. I will never forget how excited (and oh my, the butterflies) I was for him to ask me!

Eric told me he loved me about a month later in Fredericksburg on another surprise trip. I didn’t hesitate for a moment to say it back! Fredericksburg is now a special place for us.

Eric and I were serious from the beginning and had many conversations about our future. Our relationship continued to grow stronger every day, despite his travels. I was very impressed when he met my parents at a restaurant in San Marcos. At that moment, I knew he would be a part of my future.

Eric– I knew Courtney was the one when we spent our first Christmas together decorating a little Charlie Brown tree. We spent the night decorating, dancing and talking about silly things but also how happy we were with with one another.  I knew after that night that we would be spending many more Holidays together.

Tell us about your wedding style. When you sat down to really figure out how your dream wedding would look, did you start with one central color, a palette of colors, or a theme that served as your inspiration?

Being a teacher, I always imagined I would have a summer wedding. I was planning light pink and gold as my colors. However, my plans really changed when we ended up booking our venue, Pecan Springs Ranch, for February. Being in the hill country, the venue is a little rustic but with a lot of elegance and beauty. I started with my color, merlot, with accents of blush and greenery. It was the perfect winter color! My mom and I had many Pinterest boards going, until we narrowed down a style. It ended up being perfect, and exactly what I wanted!

What did you enjoy most about the process of planning your wedding?

The beginning stages are the most fun. It was so much fun to scour Pinterest for ideas for the perfect day. I loved choosing my colors and wedding style.

Looking back, was there a really special moment that you remember from your wedding that stands out as the most magical?

Our first dance to Michael Buble’s “Everything”. We had practiced a few times a couple nights before, but had not practiced much. I thought I would be so nervous. In that moment, I was so happy to be with him and that was all I could think about. It was really our first moment together, just him and I, after the ceremony. It will be a moment I never forget.

Did you have a special song that you danced to as your first dance? How did you choose it?

We discussed our first dance song through most of our engagement. We originally thought we wanted a Texas Country song, as that is usually what we listen to. We went through many choices before ultimately going in a different direction and deciding on “Everything” by Michael Buble. It is such a sweet and fun song, without being too sappy. It describes Eric and I’s relationship.

Do you have any tips for couples planning their wedding?

Ask for help! It is overwhelming to plan by yourself as there are so many small details. I am so thankful for my mom who spearheaded the planning! Find a good photographer. The pictures that our photographer, Svetlana, took are amazing. It was a cold, foggy day and I was so scared the pictures would not turn out. She reassured me that they would be perfect, and they were! I could not have asked for a better photographer! I highly recommend her.

What are your day jobs/hobbies?

Eric works as a project manager for an energy company in Austin. I am a sixth grade English Language Arts teacher outside of Austin. We have two dogs, and we all love to go hiking and visit wineries in the hill country.
